Just three months after her 19th birthday, Alexa was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. Over the next three years, she endured countless surgeries, chemotherapy treatments, radiation, and the many challenges that come with fighting a life-threatening illness.
During her cancer journey, Alexa wondered if it would ever be possible to have a wish granted. Unfortunately, organizations such as Make-A-Wish generally serve children under the age of 18, leaving many young adults facing serious illnesses without access to similar opportunities.
Alexa felt deeply that there was a great need to support young adults ages 18-24 who are battling cancer. She believed they, too, deserve moments of joy, hope, and unforgettable memories with the people they love while enduring the physical and emotional toll of treatment.
I often wonder what wish Alexa might have chosen for herself, perhaps meeting Taylor Swift during the Eras Tour, if such a dream could have come true. Sadly, Alexa never had the opportunity to receive a wish before she passed.
By honoring Alexa's memory, we can help create meaningful experiences for other young cancer warriors facing the same difficult journey. A special wish can provide comfort, happiness, strength, and cherished memories that last a lifetime.
Together, we can turn Alexa's dream into a reality for others.
